Vacancy – Visitor Services & Projects

Donegal Railway Museum is looking for a part-time Visitor Services & Projects worker, funded by Pobal. The Award Winning attraction is based in Donegal Town and operates a museum with rolling stock, artefacts, shop, etc. as well as running events throughout the year. This role will involve both Visitor Servicing and also assisting with the administration of projects. Job Title:                     Visitor Services & Projects

Hours:                                     19 hours per week

Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday (only from April – September) 12noon – 4pm, other hours (flexible) during weekdays

Wage:                                     €12.70 per hour

Reporting to:             Manager

Contract Period:        September 2024 – December 2027, with possible extension if funding becomes available

 

Main Duties:

• Meet and greet visitors
• Shop sales and managing merchandise
• Working on Education and other projects in conjunction with the Manager, including putting together our annual Phoenix magazine, etc.,
• Promote venue and give tour of facility
• General computer work
• Ensure displays and exhibitions are presented clean, tidy and in good order
• Responsible for keeping public areas presentable at all times
• Log visitor numbers and record daily monies received
• Assist with events
• Provide Cover for other staff members as required

 

Applicant Requirements:

• Computer experience
• Experience in working on projects
• Experience of working with the public
• Experience of cash handling (not essential)
• Friendly personality and enjoy working with the public
