Abbey Hotel Business Membership, May22 Drumboe @ Abbey Hotel, Oct21
Donegal Railway Heritage museum is delighted to announce that the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town has become a Business Member, to support one of Donegal’s unique heritage attractions. The Museum offers a Membership scheme for Individuals, Students, OAP and Businesses who wish to support the museum in its important work, with an annual contribution.
Niall McCaughan, Manager of Donegal Railway stated: “We are delighted that our local landmark, the famous Abbey Hotel which is just 300 metres from our door, has become a Business Member. No doubt over the decades when the trains were running here, many visitors who used the railways stayed at this famous and award winning hotel.
The museum focus has been on rescuing, restoring, celebrating educating and showcase the history and unique heritage of the County Donegal railways, is a major part of Donegal’s tourist offer, creating employment, bringing investment into the area, playing an important part in the cultural life of the town, and being a mecca for railway enthusiasts globally! As a charity like many heritage groups, we would not exist without the support of Members and the wider public. Members help sustain this local organisation, while enjoying many outstanding benefits throughout the year. I would encourage any local business and any member of the public who wish to support our important work to become a Member; details are at the bottom of this Press Release.”
Elaine McInaw, of the Abbey Hotel stated: “We are delighted to support this local museum which as the only attraction in the town open year round, is an important part of the local tourism offer. Our guests need great places to visit and with the recent upgrade to the museum including the return of the famous steam engine Drumboe, it’s on the must-see list for our visitors. We wish Niall and the team all the best in the future and would encourage other local businesses to support this attraction, which celebrates and showcases our unique Donegal Railway Heritage”.
