Santa Sensory Evening
As part of Santa’s return visit this year to our Museum, after the success of last year, we are again running a very special “Santa Relaxed/Sensory” event for families on Friday 13th December, 4pm-7pm.
A “relaxed” performance is designed to make visitors more comfortable. In particular, the event itself and venue are changed slightly to make it more accessible. These changes help people with disabilities, disorders, or differences. They can enjoy the experience along with other visitors to see Santa.
In past years we had received requests from some families asking was it accessible for children and young adults with additional needs. The answer to this was always yes, and last year our first dedicated Santa sensory event was a great success; we received great feedback from those families who attended. This year we thought we would again run a special evening for these special Santa visitors, with the appropriate adjustments made so that all can have a wonderful experience visiting him and our Award Winning Museum. This event can be booked online now though the Donegal Railway website or through the direct link in comments
Remember to select Friday 13th if you want to attend the special Sensory Event; places limited.
Donegal Railway Museum is delighted to announce that our famous Christmas Santa event is back again, bigger and better than ever, and you can now book online! Because of unprecedented demand last year, we again have two full weekend Santa events, as well as the return of a “relaxed” event on the first Friday evening, 13th November. After our last runaway success, the elves have been busy helping Santa at his Grotto, with more excitingly new Christmas displays as well as new fun family activities.
This is a great experience for kids and families, which includes not only a ride on the Polar Express to see Santa & Mrs Claus and receive a gift (and maybe even a Selfie with Santa), but also Christmas puzzles to solve, new Christmas displays to see and an opportunity to see our famous Donegal Steam Engine “Drumboe” up close, and much much more. This year again, families will be allocated individual time slots, so more one-to-one interaction from Santa and his elves, and to make things even easier, you can book directly online now!
Also, after the success of our pilot special Sensory/Relaxed event last year, we are again running it for children and young adults with additional needs. We received great feedback from those families who have attended this last year with the appropriate adjustments made so that everyone can have a wonderful experience visiting Santa and our Award Winning Museum.
This cost is just €20 per child, with adults going Free. And remember, all funds raised goes towards the running of your favourite local Railway Museum. As everything is under cover, it’s not weather dependent. Santa’s elves are currently working on the Christmas illumination’s which will guide Rudolph and the rest of the reindeers to Donegal Town for this very special return visit. Santa is looking forward to seeing you all. Bookings can be made now online.”
