Operating Donegal’s only dedicated railway museum focusing on the unique railways that once operated across the entire county, we are always looking for public support to continue the work of rescuing, restoring, showcasing, educating and celebrating the railways.
We receive part-funding towards wages but all other core costs, e.g. maintenance of building and exhibits, electric, insurance, advertising, etc.., we have to raise ourselves. If you would like to support this valuable work, then why not make a donation. Anything received is greatly appreciated!

There is always an opportunity to sponsor something at the Museum, starting at just €100. Sponsorship opportunities include:
- Sponsor a talk
- Sponsor the annual maintenance of our stock
- Sponsorship the restoration of a Donegal railway stock (we have a Donegal Railway Van, Coach and Railcar Trailer in storage ready for restoration)
- Sponsor an event
Contact the manager at [email protected] for more information and to find out about current sponsorship opportunities.
Volunteering
Would you like to give up a few hours of your time to assist your railway museum? If you have any particular skills to offer, please let us know.
It could be for a one-off day or a few hours, or it could be for a few hours a week for a few weeks; any assistance greatly appreciated! Training is provided for all volunteers. We're sure we can find a place for you and you are assured of a warm welcome.

Donate an Artefact
Over recent years, we have been delighted to receive various Donegal railway artefacts from across the globe, literally, back to the Donegal Railway Museum. In recent years we have received a variety of donations including Donegal Railway Tickets, postage weights, paintings, a staff machine and even a railway crane!
If you have something in their attic, shed, etc., that has a Donegal railway connection and would like to donate or loan it to Donegal’s Railway Museum so that more people can appreciate it, please contact us at [email protected] All donations directly contribute to building our unique railway archive as well as to the running of your award-winning museum.
Donation of Railway Books
Have you railway books that you would like to donate to the Museum? The Donegal Railway Business is currently building up one of the largest railway reference libraries within our museum, in this part of Ireland, which will be a great resource for current and future generations. We appreciate any donations of books which can be added to it. Any additional books that we have doubles of, we put into our second-hand Bookshop, which all keeps our Award Winning Museum ticking over.
If you have anything you want to donate, particularly of a Donegal/Irish Railway connection, then email [email protected].
