Our recent best-seller, “THE LOUGH SWILLY REMEMBERED”  by Jim McBride looks at the last twenty years of the Lough Swilly Railway from the early 1930s, up to the closure of the railway itself in 1953. In this book, we travel on the Swilly, from Derry to Burtonport, and also visit Letterkenny and Buncrana. This story is told through many historic photos from the past. Over 50 unpublished photos have been selected of this forgotten Irish railway, which had some unique and distinctive features.

Our newest book, “THE COUNTY DONEGAL RAILWAY REMEMBERED”, again by Jim McBride, was only launched this summer and already has proved very popular. This bumper 138-page paperback publication is a collection of 50 colour and 200 black/white photos, the vast majority of which have not been published in book form before. The railways which once operated across Donegal were unique, and we are delighted to be offering new material celebrating this important part of Donegal’s heritage. These books are a welcome addition to the Donegal Railway archive and are a must-have for anyone interested in our local heritage and in the County Donegal Railways.

Jim has been involved with railway heritage and preservation for decades, is the Irish Editor for the Disused Stations website, and is a Board Member of the County Donegal Restoration Heritage Centre.
